MOUNT DATUK DAYHIKE (MARCH 2023)

INTRODUCTION

Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) are also known and are called as Gunung Dato’ or Gunung Datok. Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) are part of Gunung Datuk Recreation Forest, and are located at Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. For people who are from Kuala Lumpur, it is going to take them 1 hour 30 minute drive to Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ). The peak of Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) are at 855 meter from sea level, making it slightly higher than Mount Angsi (824 meter from sea level). For average hiker, depending on one’s physical ability, it is estimated to consume 2 hours to the peak of Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) which are having approximately 2.4 km distance.

Most of Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) visitor came for hiking, trail running and also training with their friends. Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) is also popular among seasoned hikers, especially who lives at Selangor-Kuala Lumpur, we over here, they are able to conduct several physical training discipline.

DIFFICULTY

Climbing this superb terrain of Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) may require significant physical efforts, although the distance and elevation at a glance, seems ‘easy’. Do not be fooled by other hikers’ picture of excellent view and refreshing breeze while they are at the peak of Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) which may look easy and calm!

The trail to the peak of Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) will change rapidly and are very brutal for beginners! Exposed root, steep path and rocky area are amongst the challenges that awaits those who wanted to be at the peak of Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ). Although it is only going to take little of your time, trail to Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) can be consider to be amongst the most intense route.

Hiking duration to the peak of Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) will vary depends on hikers capabilities. It may take a little while longer for climbers who have health problem or are physically challenged. But of course, with enough preparation and practices, everything is possible!

Based on Picture 02 and Picture 03 above, are referring to the trails of Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ). It is ging to be a straightforward climb up and down. Due to this landscape, Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) became one of the most favourite places for trail runners or hikers to conduct their training.

TO GO THERE

To head there, you can use Waze or Google Maps applications in your smartphone and you can simply search GUNUNG DATUK RECREATIONAL FOREST.

ASSEMBLY POINT

As per stated earlier, Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) are receiving high visitation, especially on the weekend. Although the parking lot can be considered as big, it is however can not sustain it’s visitors during weekends / special holiday. It is advisable that you to come earlier for best parking spot, otherwise, you may just park at the side of the road heading to Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ).

However, please mind that you will not obstruct other transports’ way as the road are not broad. Please bear in mind that whenever there is an emergency (injuries / lost), the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia will answer the call. You need to imagine whether the road are still accessible by Fire Truck.

REGISTRATION

Every visitor to Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ) need to register themselves at the available counter (10 minutes into the jungle, from the parking lot). Over here, Malaysia Forestry Department will collect your personal information such as name, NRIC number, phone number and record of time you start. It will cost each person MYR 5.00 for permit to climb Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ). By the time we register, we were given a pass that can be worn on our wrist. Only after this, you will begin your climbing to the peak of Mount Datuk ( Gunung Datuk ).

TENTATIVE

Please mind that our tentative for this expedition are slower, comparing to most climbers’ time, due to our clean-up program. More time are being used during climbing up and down, as participant will also observe off trail to detect and collect rubbish. Thus, this tentative can be reflected as a slow and steady pace
